Bricolage is proud to present Daphne Alderson in Words of Love: A Tribute to Buddy Holly

Daphne Alderson with her Amazing Band in WORDS OF LOVE At the tender age of 22, Buddy Holly’s startling career was thriving.

He was in love with his new bride and eager to complete a grueling concert of the Mid West, dubbed “Winter Dance Party.” Words of Love is Daphne’s passionate tribute to the Buddy Holly legacy, this 50th anniversary of the fatal plane crash of February 3, 1959. Ironically, nothing tragic is present in his pure rock-n-roll/rockabilly croon, and it is this inherent glee that has transcended his sad death and inspired future generations. Nothing is more powerful, no joy more palpable than a rousing “Rave On!”

Paul McCartney and John Lennon took their name, The Beatles, as an homage to Buddy’s group, The Crickets, and they claim that at least 40 of their songs were modeled after Buddy Holly. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards feel that Buddy Holly was their biggest musical and artistic influence. Don McClean, Procol Harum. Paul Simon, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Eric Clapton’s Derek and the Dominoes lay claim to the legacy. We’ll also give you some words of love, so that every day you’ll be able to rave on, even if you’re square and baby, just don’t care!

These classic rock and folk ballads are newly arranged by Doug Levine and John Marcinizyn. The amazing Elisa Kohanski joins with her rich cello with Brian Stahurski on bass and RJ Heid on percussion.

Out in the world, there is a mighty cult of artists and fans who share an undying love and devotion for Buddy Holly; if you are one of these people, you won’t want to miss this extraordinary concert, and if Buddy is new to you, it’s a discovery guaranteed to lift your spirits and stir your soul.
