Darlings,
It's been such a long time since I've posted any rants. It's not for lack of having any, believe you me, it mostly because who really cares? Just kidding, I know you do, loyal readers. I've got a lot of pent up aggression and I'm long overdue for blowing off steam. Unfortunately, that's not what's
going to happen here. Not today at least.
My goal is to write consistent updates on the behind the scenes efforts going on over here at Bricolage. So much to do, so little time, never enough money. But we plow ahead. This season we have added a player to our admin team, the wonderful, super smart, creative and kind, Corinne Neal. Many of you may know her from her days at Future Tenant. She's long been a fan of the company and we're honored to have her on board. We know her contributions are going to make a world of difference to the strength of our organization. Aren't we lucky!!
Sooooooo...MIDNIGHT RADIO!!! I cannot tell you how psyched I am for this second season. Another chance to make people laugh, another lesson in creative collaboration, another FIVE months of super cool programming. I love, love, love writing for Midnight Radio. I have the pleasure of writing all the content surrounding the radio plays and special guests. That means the commercials, product placements, PSA and fillers are in my hands. I love it so much I have considered leaving the theatre to go into advertising. Seriously. At least I'd have consistent health insurance and a salary. Wow, stability.
But, enough dreaming. The reality is that Midnight Radio starts rehearsal in THREE days. Script is done. Basically, I just have to write a new commercial for Friends of the Riverfront, a repeat offender as a sponsor. They again jumped on board because apparently the commercials we created last year set an advertising record. The FOTRF Communications Committee told us that "50 of the 900 triathletes heard about the triathlon through Midnight Radio. Considering that we only aired twice before the event that would make it a world record for rate of substantial return for advertising." Pretty sweet. So if you have something to promote, sell or advertise, consider buying a sponsorship to Midnight Radio.
Our vocal acrobats include Tony Bingham, Gab Bonesso, Lisa Ann Goldsmith and John Mcintire. Sam McUmber returns as our musical director. Jeffrey Carpenter directs and I'm in charge of Foley.
Aunt Mag is back again and ready to cook up some trouble in her Midnight Radio kitchen. Coming soon Aunt Mag merchandise!!
This first episode will include the awesome sounds of Rob Collier of Small Cities. He'll be doing an acoustic set with harmonies. Can't wait!
The writers for this first episode (aside from me and Angela M. Vesco with Aunt Mag) include Ken Kaisser and Ray Bradbury (adapted by Anthony Ellis.) That's right, we're pulling out an old school radio play. You don't want to miss this creepy story!!!!
The only thing left to do before rehearsals is finish the set. The amazing Jesse Conner (Speech and Debate) is designing our space and John Friedman, Jeffrey Carpenter and Corinne Neal are making it come alive. We're changing a few things in Midnight Radio-land, but one thing that will remain the same is the good time we'll share.
I hope you will join us for this first episode of Midnight Radio and stay with us for the season. We have some awesome things up our sleeves.
xoxo
